JUSTIN QUAID GRUBB

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in rural Southern Indiana, in 2019 Justin Quaid Grubb earned a BFA in Ceramics with a minor in Art History from the Indiana University Indianapolis Herron School of Art and Design. In 2021, he earned his MFA in Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design accompanied by a certificate in Collegiate Teaching in Art and Design. Laying the foundation for his studio practice, these rigorous programs focused on the development of various technical ceramic abilities, paired with diversified interdisciplinary studies in studio art and technology. He cites extracurricular studies in American consumer culture, queer cinema, women in art and interdisciplinary collaboration as foundational theory catalysts.
Since 2023 Grubb has been an Assistant Professor of Studio Art specializing in ceramics and sculpture at Stetson University in DeLand, FL. Prior to Stetson, from 2021-2023 Grubb held a ceramics teaching and studio management position at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL. He has actively exhibited work throughout the region from Dothan, AL to Tampa, FL, with recent solo exhibitions at TAG (The Art Gallery) at the University of West Florida, Good Children Gallery in New Orleans, LA and the Alexander Brest Gallery at Jacksonville University. Grubb has given an artist talk and workshop at Duke University and his work can be found in the University of West Florida's permanent collection.
